Greg Oppenhuis has been the pastor of Big Springs Baptist Church since September, 2003. Greg received his Masters of Religious Education degree at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Greg has also completed work towards a Masters of Theology Degree at Dallas Theological Seminary. He formerly served as founding pastor of Oak Tree Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas and the Minister of Education and Administration at the First Baptist Church of Collierville, Tennessee. Before entering the ministry Greg was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 13 years as an engineer and manager. Greg and his wife, Peg, are originally from Illinois. They have two married daughters, three grandsons and one granddaughter.
Minister of Music, Worship and the Arts
Wes Moore has ministered on the Big Springs staff since 1990. He holds music degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the University of North Texas. He is also Associate Dean/Chair of the Department of Music of the College of Fine Arts at Dallas Baptist University. Before coming to Big Springs, Wes served in churches in Pauls Valley and McAlester, Oklahoma. He has sung in churches and with symphonies and opera companies throughout the southwestern United States. He is an avid basketball fan, but an even more passionate fan of team gymnastics in which his daughter, Zoe, is on the varsity women's gymnastics team at Richardson's J.J. Pearce High School. Wes is married to his college sweetheart, Melanie, who is a freelance musician, accompanist, and choral conductor.
Matthew Crane is our newest staff member as of January 24, 2016. Matt comes to us from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry and Bible from Columbia International University in May of 2015. He is presently a student at Dallas Theological Seminary and is seeking a Masters of Theology degree. Matt has been involved in College, Youth and Children's ministries in the past and has also been involved in nursing home and prison ministries. He has a desire to see individuals have renewed minds and changed lives by having encounters with Jesus Christ. His hobbies include reading, writing, building relationships, weightlifting, repairing technology and connecting with friends.
